__  Same Same, But Different

Over the next week you might see a few changes on our social media pages but don't fret - you can still find us at the same location!

Only difference is that online content from Birrunga Gallery and Birrunga Cafe will be more specific to each aspect of our space.

We highly recommend to follow Birrunga Cafe on Facebook and Instagram to be in the know about our latest food creations.

Our long awaited summer menu is also set to go live next week and the last thing we'd want is for you to miss out on our new drool-worthy dishes 🤤

To celebrate the launch of our rebrand we will also be opening until late on Friday, 8 October

Starting from 5PM you'll be able to enjoy a drink or two in the gallery, with our deadly First Nations Artisans also on-site to showcase their latest creations ✨

Gather your crew and let loose - Finally Friday is almost here!

__  Opening Night: Madhu Ngiyang (Many Stories)

To welcome our latest 3-Year Creative Cultural Development Program (CCDP) participant, Wellborn, we'll be hosting an art exhibition which will also include works by Stevie O’Chin, Kane Brunjes, and Birrunga Wiradyuri on October 16.

With a format dictated by chance, 28 words were collaboratively written and drawn out to inform the 7 artworks that each artist will create.

We're also glad to announce that Phil Brown will be joining us on opening night to interview our artists!

Phil Brown is a journalist and author who has written for a variety national and international publications including literary journals such as Meanjin and Griffith Review.

He has written a number of books including two collections of poetry. His most recent book is The Kowloon Kid : A Hong Kong Childhood published by Transit Lounge in 2019.

He has been covering the arts in Australia in the mainstream media for nearly four decades and is currently Arts Editor at The Courier-Mail in Brisbane.

Highlighting the Native spices and ingredients found throughout Australia, you can also expect to get a taste of what our bountiful Country has to offer:

• Mini kangaroo sausage rolls

• Crocodile tail satay skewers

• Mini lamb meatballs with bush tomato

• Grilled haloumi and bush honey figs (v) (gf)

• Sundried bush tomato and mushroom arancini (v)

__   Our Latest Mural @ The Princess Theatre
Birrunga, Kane, Stevie & Wellborn have been working hard over the past few weeks, adding the final touches to our latest mural.

While The Princess Theatre and Birrunga Gallery crew were beyond excited to see the space fully activated at The Princess Theatre launch party this weekend, the tightened restrictions in Brisbane has wedged a spanner in the works.

Make sure to keep an eye out for the revised date as the launch of this site is not to miss!
Throwback to better days...

__   EKKA Public Holiday

Queenslanders have had a lot on their plate and with the year quickly flying by, we'll soon be getting a well deserved a break!

The Ekka public holiday has been moved to Friday, 29 October after the cancellation in August.

Our gallery and cafe will be closed on the Friday, and we'll be back in action first thing on Monday.

This will be a good opportunity to take a breather and catch up on some sorely missed social time with friends and family.

Staycation, vacation, or whatever the reason, it's time to iron out the plans for the long weekend!
