Today, IMPACT launches the Payer-V1C Contracting Toolkit, a suite of action-oriented resources to support alignment between payer systems and processes supporting new modalities of care to facilitate contracting and ultimately drive more effective adoption of virtual first care (V1C).

The toolkit includes three fit-for-purpose resources:

  • Guide to Payer-V1C Contracting: Outlines each section of the payer-V1C contract and specifies the considerations that should be accounted for in V1C, practices that are ideal, acceptable, and to avoid, details of what to include in each contract phase, and sample language

  • Guide to V1C Payment Models: Defines the primary payment models for your review, reporting the V1C approaches best suited to each payment model and best practices for deploying each model for V1C

  • V1C Coding Library: Summarizes the coding experience of the IMPACT community as an open-source, living resource for you: Codes currently in use in V1C, codes that exist but that are restricted in a way that doesn't allow them to be used in V1C, ideas for new codes that could be added to better support V1C coding.

As millions of patients turned to virtual care in the pandemic, V1C has demonstrated a new caliber of experience, efficiency, and quality of care.

To fully embed V1C as a new standard of care that is accessible at scale, third-party payer onboarding and reimbursement for these solutions is critical. However, existing payer processes have not been able to keep pace with rapid V1C innovations, and V1C solutions do not fit into the traditional contracting structures.

The IMPACT Payer-V1C Contracting Toolkit addresses these breakdowns head-on, offering resources that support effective agreements and payment models to enable V1C scale.

Want to learn more about the Toolkit? Join IMPACT members from Bind Benefits, Omada Health, and Visana Health at a Public Meeting this Friday, October 1 at noon EST for an in-depth discussion about the resource's most useful features and how they are being implemented across V1C companies and payers alike.

The event will feature opening remarks from IMPACT co-founder and V1C expert, Donald Jones, as well as reflections from our featured expert,  Saurabha Bhatnagar, the Chief Health Officer at Commure.
