Hi,
I got a few items I felt needed sent out, but I did not have much time so I’ve posted what I can from what people have sent me.  Most items I used as I received them or copied them from the Mineral Point Chamber newsletter.  I did not bold everything, but it seems it is coming out bolded.  Ugh.  Have a beautiful week.  Sandee

9/27/21 Fairmaps Legislative Lobby Day.  TODAY, contact (call, email, text) your state legislators with a form of this message:  Who are my legislators? Find them here.
Gerrymandering is wrong regardless of which party does it. It has become more dangerous as technology has improved to gerrymander in more precise ways. I implore you to please support a nonpartisan, transparent process for creating voting district maps:

  • PLEASE HOLD PUBLIC HEARINGS ON SB 389 AND VOTE THIS LEGISLATION INTO LAW
  • PLEASE REJECT SJR 63, the joint resolution that would limit changes to the current gerrymandered maps
  • PLEASE TAKE UP THE PEOPLE’S MAPS COMMISSION MAPS that have been created in a very transparent, nonpartisan manner

I received the following from Christy Cole and feel it is important to share

10/2/21 Delvon Lamarr Organ Trio, Seattle Band, brings infectious grooves & Soulful tunes to the Mineral Point Opera House at 8 pm. The Seattle-based trio’s music is best described as “feel good music.” DLO3 conjures the smoky 1960s jazz stylings of Jimmy Smith and Baby Face Willette, and the snappy soul strut of Booker T. & The M.G.’s, The Meters, Dr. Lonnie Smith, and Charles Earland. Within DLO3’s distinct jazz stew, are also dashes of Motown, Stax Records, blues, and cosmic Jimi Hendrix-style guitar. It’s an aesthetic that only these three could muster, as these are the sounds and vibes imprinted in the trio’s DNA.  The exhilarating live experience also showcases the band’s deep personal connection with witty between-song repartee, vignette song stories, & unpredictably dynamic flights of in-the-moment musicality.  Buy tickets here:  https://mineralpointoperahouse.org/events/

11/26/21-12/9/21 APT Presents “The Gift of the Magi” in the Touchstone Theatre
Book by James DeVita, Lyrics by James DeVita & Josh Schmidt, Music by Josh Schmidt
James DeVita & Josh Schmidt's original musical based on O. Henry's classic tale of love and generosity returns to the Touchstone at long last. It's been hailed as "a Christmas Delight" (The Isthmus). We've also been told that "It’s difficult to imagine a more idyllic holiday escape..." (The Shepherd Express). But don't take our word for it (or even theirs). This is a play that longs to be seen. To be reveled in and celebrated with friends and family. So help us celebrate the end of this remarkable season along with Jim and Della, who, with full hearts and empty pockets, seek the perfect gift for one another only to find they already have all they need.
Featuring Kelsey Brennan, Brian Mani and Marcus Truschinski.  Tickets on sale October 26, 9:00 am online, 10:00 am at 608-588-2361. Or online here:  https://americanplayers.org/plays/the-gift-of-the-magi?dm_i=5KVB,FG80,4DJLYO,1MYTJ,1
