Meetings & Duties

Directors have a vitally important role in overseeing YAC and must be committed to comply with the duties imposed by law and act in the best interests of YAC. Independent Directors provide the YAC Board with specialist knowledge and skills as well as mentoring and support of traditional owner directors. YAC is seeking to appoint an Independent Director for a term of two years. 

Independent Directors have an obligation to attend all meetings, including monthly Board meetings, regular Committee meetings, and other meetings from time to time.  Board meetings can be conducted in the Pilbara, Perth or other locations across Western Australia.

 

Eligibility and Criteria

In order to be eligible applicants must meet the requirements as outlined in Rule 9.3 and 9.7 of the YAC Rule Book including:
 

  • Holding qualifications (or equivalent) in financial management, corporate governance, law, or another related field such as native title and heritage, large scale mining operations and indigenous business development;

  • Completed an Australian Institute of Company Directors Course or equivalent.


Experience working with Aboriginal communities, ATSI run entities and/or the industry is highly regarded and should be commented on in any expression of interest.

 

Fees

Reasonable meeting and travel fees are paid.

  1. Cover letter addressing the Eligibility and Criteria and outlining what strengths and motivations you believe you can bring to the YAC board (max 2 pages)

  2. Resume

  3. Completed Consent to Act Form (available from the below email)
