Join LLI members for a tour of two fabulous exhibitions at the Bard Hessel Museum Wednesday, October 13 at 3 p.m. Students from the Bard Curatorial Studies Program will provide tours through the exhibitions.

The museum tours will be followed by cider tastings at nearby Greig Farms in Red Hook.

The event is limited to 50 members so early sign-up is suggested. RSVP no later than October 8.

About the Hessel Museum Tours

We will divide into small groups and a student will be assigned to a group and provide info about the mixed media art on display and explain the curatorial decisions regarding placement.

The first exhibition, Closer to Life, features over 75 drawings and works from the Marieluise Hessel Collection which spans four decades. With Pleasure:  Pattern and Decoration in American Art 1972-1985 is the second exhibition and is the first full-scale scholarly North American survey of the groundbreaking yet understudied Pattern and Decoration art movement. It features 45 artists organized by the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles.

Bard requires that you wear a mask and provide proof of vaccination. Bring your LLI lanyard and name badge. If you are a new member (class of 2020 and 2021) and have not received a lanyard, badge, and vaccine sticker, your lanyard and badge will be available at the museum entrance and you will be provided a vaccine sticker once you present proof of vaccination.

About the Cider Tastings at Greig Farms

Following the tours, we will meet at Greig Farms 227 Pitcher Lane in Red Hook for a cider tasting and a sampling of some local cheeses.
