Listen to this Newsletter!

Hello my friends!
Want to listen to this newsletter in audio? I know we have a lot of audio lovers on this list, so from now on I’ll be giving you the scoop aurally as well as on the page :)

How are you all doing as we dive into Fall? ‘Tis my favorite season! I can’t wait for the crispy, cool weather when we bust out our boots and sweaters. I’m itching to sit in front of a bonfire, hit some apple orchards with the kids and do all that pumpkin shit people do!

That all being true, this particular Fall is… Kicking. My. Ass.

Getting kids back in the flow of school after eighteen months being at home is no easy feat! There’s lots of uncertainty (for them and their parents), daily drop-offs and pick-ups at two separate schools, making lunches, attending back-to-school meetings, fielding emails from teachers, helping with homework… it’s a lot! Add full-time narrating and writing and producing to the mix and…

My plate is full!
My cup runneth over!
But if I’m not careful… my well will run dry.
Was that enough metaphors for you?

(my older two goobers on the 1st day of school)

Here’s something I know without a doubt: I’m at my best as a writer when I’m creating from a place of joy and possibility – with a side dish of feeling a bit naughty (no doubt a direct result of decades spent being a “good girl”). But last week it hit me like a ton of bricks: my creative joy was not showing up for work. Writing was feeling like yet another thing on that never-ending to do list. And as someone who loves writing more than most things on the planet, that energy just won’t do.

So… I’m allowing myself a bit of grace.

I’m creating some space in my brain. Making myself more available for my family. Getting my butt back on my meditation cushion. Writing whatever wants to come out of me with zero efs about what I should be writing. I’m also… wait for it… reading for pleasure.  < Gasp! >

Don’t get me wrong, I’ve narrated almost six hundred audiobooks, so I am constantly reading, and my job is the absolute BEST, but with all the reading I do for work, it’s extremely rare that I read for joy and joy alone. So I’m gonna!

(Get a load of this meme the husband just sent me. He said “it’s you!”)

This means that I am not 100% sure when Sharkbait, Book Three in The Natural History Series will release. What I do know is that when it does hit your earbuds and kindles, it will be the story I want to write: full of all the joy, all the fun, and all the weird!

So, I’ll keep you posted on everything I’m cooking up and continue sharing the process, because ’22 is shaping up to be pretty epic! (Book Bonanza and Apollycon anyone?) In the meantime scroll down to see the scoop on two events coming up in October and November!

Thanks as always for your support!

All the Love
xoxo
