2 October - Education Offering: Mountain View Adventist College Scholarships

Our Education Company has over 3,000 students across Greater Sydney Conference. Adventist Education is a real beacon in our local communities. By supporting the work of Adventist Education with your generosity, we can play a vital part in seeing more lives eternally impacted by our Adventist Schools system. This Sabbath, we encourage you to give generously to the Scholarship offering, so that our families can experience high quality education that goes beyond the classroom and have a positive influence in the world around them. Donations over $2 is tax deductible and we thank you for investing in the lives of others.

We explore the Hebrew word "nephesh" that often gets translated as "soul." The English word usually refers to a non-material essence of a human that survives after death, but nephesh means something different. It is referring to humans as living, breathing, physical beings, or just to life itself. Prepare to be surprised at the biblical meaning of this fascinating word.

Message about COVID-19 and Vaccinations

Pr Terry Johnson - Greater Sydney Conference President

COVID-19 info

COVID-19 Support: We're all in this together!

As we enter the new stage of lockdown restrictions, we would like to reach out and check on our church family. How is everyone doing?

Under the latest restrictions, there may be some families with no one working/getting a paycheck at the moment. If one of our families or someone you know runs out of food or necessities or times are just tough, please PM me or anyone in church leadership and we will offer support. If you need someone to talk to and pray with, we’re here.

What’s understood never has to be explained... We're here as a church family to love and support each other in tough times. No one has to get through it alone. And we have His promise to be with us always, even to the end of the world (Matthew 28:20).

Sign up for Chatswood's Fellowship Time

Chatswood Church’s Fellowship Time is a time where one-to-one virtual connections can take place to support each other and our families, outside of our weekly eChurch gathering.

The program stopped last year when COVID restrictions eased, and now we are considering starting it again should the church family be interested.

How does it work?
You will be paired with someone from the Chatswood SDA church family.
All you have to do is coordinate a time to give that person a call. You can ask them about their week, talk about what’s going on in their lives and pray together.
Pairs are re-shuffled automatically each fortnight.
Chatswood Church plans to coordinate this activity while eChurch and social distancing measures are in place.

If you are interested in opting in to the program, please fill out the form on this web page to opt-in to the program. If you were part of the program last year, we ask you to opt-in again so we know you remain interested in participating.

Please note we will assess if we have enough people before we get started, and will update the Church family once we’re ready to begin.

Weekly Prayer Meetings

We would like to invite everyone who has a heart for prayer to join our Chatswood online prayer group. We will have a quick study of the Book of Daniel followed by a time of sharing and prayer.

When: Wednesdays at 8:30pm
Where: Church Zoom (view above)

Everyone is welcome!

🙏 Prayer

Isaiah 55:11 - So is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.

God, we know the promises of humans may fail us, but we're grateful Your Word never will. On challenging days, we ask You to constantly remind us of Your good and perfect promises. Thank You.

Special prayers for the COVID-19 Pandemic
Guide us in the path of discipleship, so that, as you have blessed us, we may be a blessing to others, bringing the promise of the kingdom near, by our words and deeds.

  • Pray that we will be sensitive to the needs of others in our community who are suffering additional stresses because of measures that have been introduced to reduce the spread of the virus. Pray especially for younger Australians who are facing mental stress that they will find the help they need. Ask also that God will give us ways we can show His love to those around us.
  • Pray for all our Church families who are living in the main areas of concern, that they will be protected from the Virus and show us all how we can be of help to them.
  • Give thanks for the increased uptake in vaccinations and pray for all that is being done to share accurate information in the community.
  • Pray for great wisdom for our political and health leaders, that decisions they are making will be what are best for our nation and will also receive community support as some of the restrictions are eased in coming days. Show all of us as Australians how we can work together and support each other. Pray that there will be strong cooperation between all states and territories that they will be able to work together for the benefit of all Australians
  • Remember all the workers in the health system that are working so tirelessly that they will find rest and strength for each shift they undertake and pray for protection for their own families.
  • Pray for those who are from areas of our community that are under-represented in terms of access to vaccines, that these gaps will be filled. Pray, too that wealthier countries will recognise the needs of those in poorer countries who have quite limited access to vaccines and will share from the abundance of vaccines they have
  • Pray that the logistics of the delivery of vaccines throughout Australia will run smoothly and the accompanying advertising program will be successful.

General prayer points for this week

  • God, thankyou for showing us what love is by sending us Your perfect Son to earth to save us.
  • Give thanks for those who developed the program for our “kids’ service” last Sabbath and show us how to continually minister to our younger members and encourage them
  • Praise God that many members of our Church family have, in the past, shared some of the things God has shown them through their life experience in our Service on the first Sabbath of the month. Show each of us if any of our recent experience(s) with Him should be shared with our Church family in this way.
  • Rejoice with Leah and Armand and praise God that their five family members who were Covid positive are all making good progress
  • Pray for Maxine as she recovers from recent surgery waits for a follow up procedure
  • Give thanks that Sean Pennington his making good progress as he recovers from the injury to his shoulder- give him patience as he waits for the bone to fully heal
  • Pray for continued healing for Jodi and that she will receive the right treatment at the right time- Guide us also as a Church family as we stand in support of them. Pray, too, for Jodi’s mum, Beverly, in the UK that she will receive the guidance she needs re housing
  • Give thanks for the progress made by Boriss and Heidi’s family members, David and Nino in their health  situation, that their recovery will be complete
  • Pray for all others in our Church family, especially those facing stresses of various kinds that we might all know that you are the God who cares and we might be able to support each other in prayer.
  • Pray for Paul Stewart that his treatment will bring about improvement in his health. Comfort him and grant him patience as he receives this care
  • Give thanks thanks that Karen Kilner has made good progress in her rehab that she will soon be fully recovered  from her injury
  • Pray for Willem’s mum as she continues her treatment that it will achieve all that is intended. Be with the whole family as they interact remotely with each other in supporting Brenda.
  • Pray too, for Simone’s mum and dad, giving thanks that they have been able to move into their new home and begin to settle into the changes that need to be made. Pray, too, for Willem, Simone, Amelie and Madeleine as they “minister to them at a distance”.
  • Give thanks that there has been good progress in the repairs to the Kooke’s home that all the work will be efficiently and effectively carried out, and they will recover quickly from the disruption
  • Pray for other Church families who have recently moved as they settle into new communities and others that are looking for new accommodation that they will be guided by you as they search

Holy, holy, holy God, fill us with strength and courage, with discernment and compassion, that we may be your instruments of justice and love in this world, that it may be on earth as it is in heaven.
