The Chamberlain Highbury Trust
September Newsletter

We want to recruit new trustees to our Trust Board

Our trustees work together to:

  • Support our youth leadership education and promote our role as the custodian of Highbury and its heritage
  • Be welcoming of all visitors to Highbury, making it accessible to all
  • Work for the benefit of Highbury and its neighbouring communities, including by participating in committees, task & finish groups and working parties with others
  • Make and keep Highbury sustainable – economically, environmentally and socially.

Individually, your role as a trustee would include:

  • Keep yourself informed about our work through attendance at meetings, visits to Highbury and reading about Highbury and about heritage projects generally
  • Make decisions and act in the best interests of the Trust, not in your own self-interest
  • Be an ambassador for Highbury and promote our work to relevant audiences.

Closing Date 5th October 2021 12 noon

We've been pretty busy!

September has been full of events, volunteering sessions and training.
Thank you all so much for making all this happen!

We were joined by 10 new volunteers for our planting sessions and planted over 100 new shrubs which look great! Watering them has been a major task and thank you so much to everyone who had done a stint on this. I have never been so happy to see rain!
We continue to have volunteering sessions on Wednesday with Sustainable Life, you are welcome to sign up and join in!
We had our first open day and welcomed around 30 people to Highbury for the first time. It gave our new tour guides each a chance to get out with the public and practice.
We also hosted the launch of Heritage Open Week at Highbury and had 70 events coordinators at Highbury for the evening, it was great to share the building in this way!
This was such a great day the house and grounds were buzzing with life. We had so much positive feedback. There were over 350 people at the event and 112 people on house tours, 50 on ground tours and 16 more on foraging and pergola tours!
Having Elan Valley Links there sharing the History of Birmingham's Water was a fantastic addition.

Join us on the first Monday of every month for our open days
Highbury Park Friends and Highbury Orchard Community continue to survey species in Highbury park, we are so pleased with the wonderful and various creatures that find home on the Highbury Estate and Park
