ARC Announces 2021-2022 Appalachian
Leadership Institute Fellows
|
|
|
This week, ARC announced 40 Fellows selected for the third class of the Appalachian Leadership Institute. The Class of 2021-2022 represents each of Appalachia’s 13 states and includes CEOs, community coaches, economic development leaders, Affrilachian artists, professors, and other professionals who live and/or work in Appalachia.
Over the next nine months, they'll learn from experts and each other, grow their skills, and ultimately become more empowered to address our Region’s greatest challenges.

Department of Labor Awards $14.5+ Million to Appalachian Workforce Projects
|
|
The U.S. Department of Labor, in partnership with ARC, awarded $14.5 million to 11 projects through the Workforce Opportunities for Rural Communities Initiative. Recipients will use funds to provide education, training, and career support services across the Region.

Appalachia Nonprofit Resource Center Begins
Fall Trainings
|
|
The Appalachia Nonprofit Resource Center (ANRC) has launched its third set of courses for nonprofit training.
For the next 10 weeks, participants from 12 ARC states will collaborate through courses discussing funding opportunities and grant navigation. Participants in the Fall instruction include 5 POWER grantees, 2 INSPIRE grantees, 15 alumni from the inaugural nonprofit training last year, and 23 new applicants. Appalachian Governors Envision the Region
|
|
|
Each week leading up to Appalachia Envisioned, Appalachia's 13 governors are sharing their visions for creating opportunities and resilience in the Region. This bipartisan project, led by ARC's 2020 States' Co-Chair Governor Ralph Northam, was launched in early July. Through the first week of October, Appalachia will hear from every governor and ARC's Federal Co-Chair Gayle Manchin. This week, Governor McMaster shared his vision.

ARC Supports South Carolina Upstate’s Continued Prosperity
In South Carolina, the northwestern counties of Anderson, Cherokee, Greenville, Pickens, Oconee, and Spartanburg are within the Appalachian Region, which 1.2 million South Carolinians call home. The abundance of natural resources provides a wealth of recreational opportunities [and] a robust tourism economy…generating $2.3 billion in annual visitor spending.

Don't miss out! Join more than 1,000 Appalachians who have already registered for Appalachia Envisioned: A New Era of Opportunity, a virtual conference co-hosted by ARC and the Commonwealth of Virginia on October 6.
Attendees will be the first to see ARC’s new strategic plan, and hear stories and success strategies on outdoor recreation, entrepreneurship development, and leadership and community capacity.
