Stories - who’s in & who’s out?
What is it?
TikTok is the latest platform to announce that they are testing a Stories feature (a content format that disappears after 24 hours). This announcement came shortly after YouTube launched ‘Shorts’, a similar format.
Why is it relevant?
With the success of the short-form format on platforms such as Snap and Instagram, it’s no surprise that competitors want a piece of the action. However, it doesn’t work for everyone, as both Twitter & LinkedIn have recently decided to remove the format from their platforms.
Some benefits of Stories:
- No likes means no judgement
- Capture moments that aren’t perfectly curated
- Less guilt about bombarding followers with content
- Ads can slip seamlessly into the stories feed
- The order of stories is based on interactions
