Radical Plastic's soil-degradable mulch films were field-tested this summer. Over 14 growers from California to Florida ran pilot trials on their film. Initial results from these tests were positive. The feedback they received from growers is being used to optimize mulch film formulations. The data collected will be leveraged for marketing purposes to support the commercial launch of the biodegradable film.

seqWell, a global provider of next-generation sequencing (NGS) library technologies based on its proprietary plexWell™ multiplexing platform, today announced five appointments to its commercial team. Led by Steve Smith, who joins as Chief Commercial Officer, the team will be responsible for driving awareness, adoption, and development of the plexWell platform and product pipeline, to provide scientists with a simplified NGS workflow. Joining Steve are Curtis Knox, Senior Product Manager; Renata Santos, Senior Field Applications Scientist; Kellie Faulkner, Marketing Manager; and Laura Clark, Marketing Specialist.

The new, state-of-the-art biomanufacturing learning environment at GMGI’s Gloucester Biotechnology Academy in Blackburn Center is complete and prepared for its first group of students. On Wednesday, September 8, GMGI staff were joined by Governor Charlie Baker, Lieutenant Governor Karyn Polito, Secretary of Housing and Economic Development Mike Kennealy, Representative Ann-Margaret Ferrante, and others to cut the ribbon on the new laboratory space.
