LORD OF THE FORK RACE

Saturday, October 23, 2021

We are stoked to once again host this iconic event. Registration is open!

This is a Class V extreme kayak race through the Russell Fork Gorge.

Start line is around the right-hand bend 200 yards below Fist 100, and 100 yards above Maze. The Finish line is at the exit slot of Climax. First racer goes at 3:00 PM, individual starts times at 30 second intervals.

Racers will need to register online via Webscorer, sign a completed ACA waiver to check in, pick up a bib in the morning at check-in, and arrive at the start line for their assigned start time in the afternoon.

Please take a look at the page linked below to learn how the event will be a little different this year for everyone's safety. We have limited slots so please register soon if you want to race! Our friends at the Potomac Whitewater Racing Center (PWRC) are hosting two slalom events this Fall.

Fall Feeder Slalom Race #1
9:00am EDT - 12:30pm EDT
October 3rd, 2021

First of two scheduled canoe/kayak slalom races for all ages and experience levels -- from beginner to elite athlete. Plastic boat category -- you do not need slalom boat to compete. Free for PWRC members. $20 for nonmembers. 9:00am Course Closed for Practice. 9:15am Racers Meeting 10:00am First Runs Start. Second Runs Start 20 Min After First Runs End.

Location: Feeder Canal - Lock 6, C&O National Historical Park, Bethesda MD

Fall Feeder Slalom Race #2
10:00am EDT - 12:30pm EDT
October 31st, 2021

Second slalom canoe kayak race of Fall 2021. Paddlers of all abilities welcome -- including plastic boat K1 categories. Free for PWRC members. $20 for non-members.

All of our events are sanctioned and insured by the American Canoe Association. The Great Falls Foundation, and indeed most whitewater event hosts, would not be able to offer these events without the ACA's support.

As you well know, we would not have the level of access to whitewater and the protection of our favorite rivers without American Whitewater. As a whitewater paddler, your AW membership is critical.
