Blocking out the noise. Coach Pittman, better than most, knows that Athens is a tough place to play. It's loud. It's raucous. And it can cause a little bit of chaos when it comes to communicating from the sideline.
How did the Head Hog prepare for that in this week's practice? And who's been having a big week in the lead up to Saturday's Top-10 showdown?
We've got all the best sound bites, highlights, and analysis from the Head Hog's weekly radio show. Let's get to it...
▶️ Loud And Clear: It has been nearly 23 months since Arkansas has played to a packed house on the road. And Coach Pittman knows that with ESPN's College GameDay in town and Georgia looking to solidify its place atop the SEC, fans will likely pack Sanford Stadium to the tune of 93,000. So he turned up the crowd noise in practice for most of this week: "With the crowd noise, you can’t coach. The last two periods of practice today we went crowd noise. I’d had about all the crowd noise I want."
▶️ Much Improved: If you're looking at last year's result as an indication for how this team is going to perform on Saturday... well... don't do that: "On offense we’ve got a lot of veterans back. We’ve got a quarterback who can run and pass. On defense we have most all our kids back along with some additions from the portal, and the ones we have are better. We’re definitely going to take a better football team in there than we had last year."
▶️ Made An Impression: Coach Pittman knows just how good this Georgia team is on both sides of the ball, especially when it comes to the trenches: “I went against them every day for four years and they’re good. I mean, they’re really good. And then they’re good on the back end. You look at them on film and you’re trying to find a weakness in either their offensive line or defensive line — and say you’re going to attack this spot, attack that spot — and there’s just not."
Arkansas will play Georgia this Saturday at 11:00am CT. You can catch the game on ESPN.
