Pre-Kinder
Last Thursday was the first day of our Pre-kinder program.
Pre-Kinder's got to meet their teacher Miss Crawford and their Year 5 buddies. They enjoyed participating in some fun activities and experienced a small part of what school life at PCS is like.
We loved meeting all the Pre-kinder's and can’t wait to have you here again next Thursday!
Thank you Year 4 Parents
Mrs Naqau would like to thank the Year 4 parents for the costumes provided for the students African dance they did today to farewell our Year 12 students! Thank you parents and thank you Mrs Mayo for the African necklaces and bracelets. Our students danced wonderfully and looked so beautiful.
Christmas Book Fair
Our PCS Book Fair was a roaring success. The students loved walking around looking at the books, choosing stationery items and viewing posters.
We have sold almost all of our stock and we need to order more copies of some items because they were so popular. Thank you to everyone who supported our school Book Fair. Keep your eye out for some new titles to be added to our Library soon.
ICAS Competitions
ICAS Exams have continued this week with students participating in English, Science, Spelling Bee and Mathematics. The results for the participating students will be released later this term.
Agriculture News
Year 9/10 Agriculture students have returned to school to find many changes in the Ag Plot. The orchard has been planted, the greenhouse is nearly complete and the vegetable garden has grown significantly. The students have continued to build the greenhouse and are excited to see it finished and full of plants.
INNOV8 Competition
Parkes Christian School has held its first ever Technological and Applied Studies Expo, called INNOV8.
The Expo celebrates all aspects of the TAS subject area that encompasses Design and Technology, Industrial Technology, Food and Agriculture, Multimedia, and IT skills.
There were eight categories open for students from Year 5-12, encouraging them to be innovative and creative, leading to the name INNOV8. There was also an Open section to allow entries that did not meet one specific category.
Due to COVID we were not able to display all the entries and invite people to come and see them as we hoped to do, however will be able to display the winning entries via our newsletter and Facebook.
A pleasing number of entries were received including some wonderful recipes (with delicious samples of cooking!), automotive restorations, product designs, websites and games coded entirely by the students, inspirational posters, beautiful photos and some amazing animations.
The winner of each category receives a $50 voucher, with the overall best entry receiving a further $100. Judging is currently taking place, and the winners are set to be announced next Friday.
Here are some samples of the digital entries that were received. We're sure you'll agree that there are some amazingly talented students in our school!
Year 12 Celebrations
Year 12s final week of high school was a blast. We started the week with 'The Game of Life' that involved dressing up in a theme, lego challenges, domestic life and car maintenance tasks. On Tuesday our battling skills were demonstrated with the ultimate nerf gun battle, Mrs Lynn didn't even get a shot in before she was targeted by Caleb Hill and Luke Magill and had to walk the long shameful path back to the two minute timeout. Mr Wynstra was awesome, he hit his targets with precision and accuracy. Two green machines were brought in and the great Year 12 rally commenced. The students maneuvered around the obstacles with ease and skill. A slip and slide was also created for some afternoon fun which the students really enjoyed. On Wednesday our Year 12s began by baking for their upcoming Bake Sale fundraiser which would go towards their Year 12 school gift. They also got to vs the staff to a softball game and the staff managed to keep their winning streak. In the afternoon the students did some special MUM Time with Mrs Pepper where they reflected on their spiritual walk with Christ and receive letters from staff and parents which they read while enjoying some yummy scones. Thursday consisted of a full day of hard work with washing and vacuuming cars, making personalised shirts for their parents and running their fundraising bake sale. To finish off the week Mr Westcott and Miss Oates cooked up a delicious bacon and egg roll breakfast for the Year 12 and staff to enjoy. Our SRC also enjoyed helping pack beautiful picnic baskets which were distributed to the Year 12 families. The Year 12 received a final farewell from our PCS students in the form of baked goods, lollies, giant photo heads, personalised caricatures designed by Year 9 student Marcus Moss, videoed performances and a heartfelt goodbye before giving their beautiful gift 'The Icicle Bicycle' to the school and making their final exit from PCS.
School Leadership
Being a part of the SRC means that you can have an impact on what is happening around our school. We are looking forward to seeing our new SRC take the reins from our current group later this year.

Senior School Captains speeches are happening on Monday 8th November along with Year 11 SRC voting and House Captain and Mascot voting.

Year 7 to Year 10 SRC nominees will give speeches in Roll Call during Week 4. Voting will take place on Monday 8th November.

Students who would like to be House Captains or Mascots will need to nominate on Monday 8th November and be prepared to give a short speech on the same day to their houses.
