Everybody Always - Week 5
Good morning and welcome to week 5 in our current devotional series titled "Everybody Always". We are taking up the challenge and preparing to embrace our community with the Love of Christ Jesus.

This week we read from Matthew 5 and Luke 19, as we discover how Jesus did not call his folowers to march, to retaliate, to revenge, or to break laws, but rather how Jesus calls his followers to raise the bar and not simply be good people, but citizens of the kingdom of heaven. We have seen and heard a lot of how to love like Jesus, this week we are encouraged not to learn anything more than we already have, but to go and do it!!

In Bob's video this week, he tells a story of how he addressed a fault in his character and started carrying a bucket with him as a reminder.

If you would like to join me for Tuesday morning prayer at 9 am, please follow the link below to the ZOOM.US meeting invite. I hope to see you there.

Join our minister Rev. Werner Schroeder for the fifth devotion in a series titled "Everybody Always". The Author Bob Goff wrote a book with that title and throughout this series we have relied on Bob's stories to form the framework of our journey. Follow along this week as we read from Matthew 5:43-48 and Luke 19:1-10, and bring the series to a close.
Bob Goff: Everybody Always - session 5

Bob spent decades as an attorney, trying to figure out how to live a whimsical, impactful life. These days, he calls himself a "recovering lawyer" because after practicing law for 25 years, then becoming the Honorary Consul to Uganda, he gave up his law firm to pursue writing and speaking full time. He's a New York Times bestselling author several times over, runs a popular weekly podcast, and recently turned farmer at The Oaks just outside San Diego, California.

Questions for Week 5

  1. Consider Bob's story in this week's teaching about Kabi the witch doctor. What stuck out to you, touched you, or even inspired you?
  2. Do you relate to Bob's statement about spending his whole life avoiding the very people Jesus was always engaging? Why or why not?
  3. Have you ever been someone else's enemy? Do you know why?
  4. Is it easier for you to forgive or to receive forgiveness from others?
  5. What are some healthy precautions to take in dealing with those people who are just unsafe to be around? How can these precautions keep you from being stuck in fear when it comes to approaching them?
  6. What is the most threatening part of Bob's challenge to "just do it" when it comes to loving your enemies?
