A growing group of community members in the Rockford, Illinois area dedicated to eliminating racism and becoming a community where everyone feels valued.

It’s Time for You to Help Change Our Community

If you are reading this you should consider becoming involved in Eliminate Racism 815 or some other organization working to create a better community for everyone who lives here. This community can only thrive when everyone is functioning at their best. People can only function at their best when they have a minimum of stress in their lives and when the feel like they belong, like they are appreciated, like they are heard, and like they are a part of a community where they are making a difference and meaningfully contributing toward the betterment of the community.

Take a moment (yes, right now) and think about what you have done lately to help create a better community.

Don’t forget, that every little thing you do to help a child, youth, or adult’s life a bit better helps our community just that much. If everyone does a little every day, imagine how much better our community would be. And if some people get involved in bigger ways by helping groups, organizations, businesses, or government bodies function a bit better, imagine how much that will create a better community.

Friends, we can’t sit back and expect others to change things for us. We need to join in the effort to create the changes that will improve our community. It takes a little bit of effort by everyone of us. If you decide to not join in the effort to improve our community, they you are holding our community back just that much.

Those of us who are involved in the work of community betterment need your help. Look at me. I’m about to turn 79 years old. I don’t have the energy I used to have. I need you (yes, you!) to help me out here. Get involved. Speak up, speak out, stand up for what is right. If you are already involved, do a little bit more. You can make a difference in our community. Our community needs you to help make it a better place to live.

Thanks for reading this and doing something different for a change.
