Here’s what it's like to have a virtual personal trainer

Term: Single-tasking

Single-tasking is the practice of focusing on one task at a time. It doesn’t need to be a general philosophy, but can be used on a task-by-task basis. For some things, layering up can be a-okay; others really do require your full attention. See if you can spot, in your day, which level of attention is appropriate for which task.

Movement Practice: Rolling

I love setting up a big, fuzzy blanket on my floor, turning on music that expresses how I’m feeling, and rolling around for a time. These motions don’t have a pattern or routine, which can help them feel meditative. You drop out of your head and into your body. You end up moving in ways you hadn’t expected, which can unlock parts of your body that you didn’t know needed it. It also builds self-intimacy. Try it and let me know how it went. I want to know.

Book Recommendation:

This is the best book I’ve read in 2021; shout out to my brother, Brendan, for recommending it to me. It is marketed to women, but holds wisdom for everyone. It teaches you how to be aware of your energy and the direction of that energy. The best takeaway was that when you do not ask someone for what you what, or ask them with lots of hedges and outs, you rob them of the opportunity to play the hero in your life.
