Can you believe it's October already? Spring is lapping the state as we head toward Christmas. Exhibitor applications are open and there has been loads of interest from returning exhibitors and businesses wanting to display new innovation never seen before in Tasmania.

With many businesses and organisations applying already – we are super excited about the high calibre of applications received so far. If you know of a business that you would like to see at the 2022 event, we encourage you to ask them to contact us. Agfest field days offer a truly unique opportunity for businesses to showcase their quality products, people, brand, and services whether in the paddock or in the cloud. Applications are now open and close on 1 December 2021.

Did you know that Agfest would not happen without the amazing service organisations and community groups who provide volunteers to help with the smooth running of the event? Community Groups that help at the event receive a small donation to their clubs - Expressions of interest are now open from such groups with various tasks such as patron monitoring in pavilions and site clean-up. For more information please contact us

Official Charity Partner - Over the last eight years we have supported the following charities - Life Without Barriers, Royal Flying Doctor Service, Ronald McDonald House Hobart, Leukaemia Foundation, Teen Challenge, Rural Alive and Well Inc Tasmania and Canteen Tasmania. Our combined donation to these organisations is $15,780. We are again excited to offer a not-for-profit charitable organisation a free site at the 2022 event. Our preference is given to applications that benefit local communities within Tasmania and build the capacity of young people. For more information visit agfest.com.au/supported-charity.

Don’t forget tenders close from commercial operators on 15 November for First Aid, Caterers, Two-way Radio Hire and Ticketing Providers. For more information please contact us.

Here at Rural Youth our values are Friendship, Relationships, Self-Development and Opportunities – this month we looked at Self Development and some members of the committee attended Governance Training to build their knowledge and gain the fundamentals of running a committee effectively, looking at decision making processes and financial planning of the organisation. As Chairman I'm excited for the future leaders of our organisation and I know the future is in good hands.

Please feel free to share this publication to all your friends and families and ask them to subscribe. Subscribing to Agfest Antics keeps you informed as exciting news is announced regarding the event, businesses who are exhibiting, and information about what our amazing members are doing in their communities.

For now, it’s business as usual for us at Agfest and I look forward to seeing you all back in the paddock the first week of May.

Cheers,

Caine Evans
Agfest 2022 Chairman

Brief description of your Committee role: To support the committee and run a safe and compliant event.

Share a snapshot of your Agfest/Rural Youth history: I have been a member for four and a half years holding a range of positions at both the Agfest Committee and as a Director and Vice President of the organisation.

Why did you decide to join Rural Youth? To meet likeminded people, learn new things and challenge myself.

What are the key skills you have gained from your involvement in Agfest? I have learnt leadership skills, communication tools, and undertaken roles that saw me coordinate things that I wouldn’t have the opportunity to do in day-to-day life.

Describe the most hilarious moment so far of your involvement in the field days: There is always great banter amongst the committee before during and after the event. One of the funniest was when the security manager at the time got called to a vehicle rollover on site. They trekked at full pace from one end of site to the other, and it was a display that had been set up for the whole event.

Three words that best describe you: Honest, authentic, and passionate.

Share a description of any other jobs/voluntary positions you hold: My day-to-day role is with the RAW Country team at Rural Alive and Well. This involves my two favourite things – supporting people to be their best self and being out and about in our gorgeous state.

Describe the three activities you love to do on the weekend: Exploring, spending time with people that I love and slowing down.

Favourite movie: Hunt for the Wilderpeople

Favourite food: Roast Lamb

Favourite book: I am Malala: The Girl Who Stood Up for Education & Was Shot by the Taliban - Malala Yousafza

If you could invite any three people to join you for a dinner party, who would they be: Michelle Obama, Anne Frank and Oprah Winfrey

Location of company:

Today, Blackwoods is Australia’s largest supplier of MRO, industrial and specialist safety products, offering a complete end-to-end solution.

Number of years exhibited at Agfest: 15 + years. (We did have a year or two off a few years back).

Why do you choose to exhibit at Agfest: Attending Agfest allows us to increase our Brand exposure in the Tasmanian market. It’s a great event, run by a fantastic team.

What three words would you use to describe Agfest? Community / Exposure / Connections

Describe why you are most excited about being a part of Agfest for 2022: To be a part of this event and the community as a whole. Catching up with our regular customers and providing solutions to assist attendees with their needs.

What will your feature include for Agfest 2022: We have a lot of great new products coming through in the safety space and tool space. It’s a great opportunity to showcase this.

Describe your planned site for Agfest 2022, focusing on any new products/services/additions to your site: We will again have a large 40 x 20 space, showcasing lots of new products and solutions. Our sales team will be on hand to assist as well as some of our valued suppliers. Visit us at Site S13 on South Street.

If you could deliver one message to the Rural Youth volunteers that organise Agfest, what would it be: Keep up the good work! It’s been a tough couple of years, but you have been extremely helpful and informative every step of the way.

Located on South Street the expo will showcases a mix of industry related service providers, paddock to plate experience, industry information, careers expo and refreshments beverage centre. For more information about being part of this exciting feature, please contact the THA direct on (03) 6220 7300.
