FAMILY ENGAGEMENT enables Mayflower to promote community learning. Families sign up to this ethos to create a culture of excellence for all.
We are excited to welcome our community back to Mayflower.
We hope that everyone has managed to grab some special time together with family. This short newsletter intends to welcome you back and share some information that will help you plan and access the term ahead.
ATTENDANCE for all is a must. Pupils who are on time and are fully engaged, make more progress. They go on to have better life choices. Step up to the mark.
Late Nights. Early Starts.
For many people Halloween is a party night/weekend. For example, it was lovely seeing some pupils, staff and governors enjoying themselves at Prime Skatepark's organised fun competition.
We know that many pupils will have attended similar evens or have been out late with their families.
Given the nature of the events, children will almost certainly be full of sugar as they return to school.
If you did engage as a family, we hope that you had a nice time. It could be that we are faced with many tired pupils tomorrow.
That said, pupils who are late to arrive to school will be welcomed warmly, but the impact of a late pupil on both their own learning and that of others is huge.
We are all late sometimes, but please make sure your child arrives at school on time.
We will be monitoring pupils who persistently arrive late and tackling this daily.
Support is here for families who struggle with getting to school. We are keen to hear from you if this is something you would like support with. Have you heard this saying? 'Early is on time, on time is late and late is rude'.
We don't think anyone is being rude, but being on time is our wish for all.
Together we can...give ourselves the best start
Engage
ENGAGING IN NEW EXPERIENCES
enables pupils and their families to create a fresh sense of perspective whilst developing their talents and interests.
Together we can... change the lives of the children and young people that need us most.
We will be supporting the Children in Need 2021 appeal on Friday 19th of November.
The theme is "feel good Friday" and we'd like our pupils and staff to wear clothes or bring something that that makes you feel good.
Bring something that makes you comfortable or choose clothing that simply brings you happiness.
In our celebration assembly, we will share our outfits and discuss WHY they make us feel good and how this links to this year's theme for Children in Need.
We are looking forward to raising money for this worthy cause so please remember to bring your donations with you on the day.
Thank you for your support.
Mrs. Lissie Mills.
Focus
ATTENTION and focus are key learning behaviours that pupils are taught. Pupils learn how to organise their ideas, accelerate progress and achieve the highest standards.
Routines count. Have you created one that works for you?
Try these 4 APPs everyday and let us know how they impact on your child's progress. We have added a link below to the online MEP Match resources too. Scan the QR code.
