Thought for the Week
Monday, 18th October 2021

As the summer days have turned to autumn, I have been struck by the true beauty in watching the leaves change. Perhaps this year is because this has not been overshadowed by relentless rain or grey days. The sun has continued to shine just for a shorter amount of time each day. There is so much joy in a simple autumn walk – to make the most of the autumn sunshine, to watch children kick and play in the leaves and think about what the next season holds. The next time you are taking an autumn walk try to appreciate all that is around you – what can you hear, see, smell? In the busyness of the day these moments of stillness and quiet are much needed.

During this time, we are thankful for the farmers and for the harvest- remembering to think this when inevitably tractors are on the road during rush hour! We give thanks for their hard work and all that they do provide food for us. As we move into winter and darker days appear – hold on to that warm autumn glow. A reminder of hope and brighter days.

For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven.
Ecclesiastes 3:1
"It's the first day of autumn! A time of hot chocolatey mornings, and toasty marshmallow evenings, and, best of all, leaping into leaves!"
