The BY-COVID project begins
A new Horizon Europe project coordinated by ELIXIR was launched on 13th October. The BY-COVID project strives to tackle the data challenges that can hinder effective pandemic response.
ELIXIR Belgium is co-leading work package 4: “Connecting the COVID-19 platform to analysis tools and local portals”. Collaboratively, we will develop, aggregate and integrate tools for analysis and visualisation of data in the COVID-19 Data Platform. Also, a provenance framework for tracking of derived data and the transparency and trustworthiness of results will be provided. Researchers will be enabled to exploit the large volumes of data for tasks such as identification of variants of concern.

VIB celebrated 25 years of groundbreaking research
Earlier this month, VIB celebrated its 25th anniversary. Twenty-five years ago, VIB's adventure started with a bold idea: to unite the top academic labs for life sciences in Flanders in one institute that combines outstanding research with valorization. Today, that idea is realised through more than 1600 VIB researchers working across six Flemish campuses. VIB is also a partner and the lead institute of ELIXIR Belgium since our founding five years ago.
To commemorate the occasion, VIB has published a series of articles on "The Origin of Impact", exploring the history of their scientific contributions.
