Dear <<First Name>>

You are invited to an online Nuclear Free South Africa Campaign meeting that will focus on providing an overview of the campaign, and planned campaign activities.

The meeting will be held on 4 November 2021 from 10:00 am to 11:30 am (SAST) on Zoom.

The #NuclearFreeSA campaign brings together concerned parties, NGOs, community based organisations and faith leaders who are fighting for energy justice and advocating for a nuclear-free South Africa. SAFCEI shares information and advocacy skills on climate change and energy issues, with a special focus on nuclear energy developments and seeks to support the mobilisation of faith and affected communities.

By the end of the meeting faith leaders will:

  • Understand the linkage between climate and energy justice, and the importance of faith communities in an achieving a just energy transition.
  • Be updated on recent news about nuclear energy and climate change.
  • Plan and formulate effective responses to energy challenges, influencing appropriate decision-making processes related to energy policy and decision making bodies:  National Nuclear Regulator (NNR), Eskom, and Department of Mineral Resources and Energy (DMRE).
