Mid-October Digest

Dear Lucy,

I have been hearing a lot of students talk about the EVSS/MPA Concurrent Program. How do I know if this program is right for me and I am able to still apply for it?

Best,
Studious Sam

Dear Studious Sam,

The Environmental and Sustainability Studies and Public Administration Program is a ~three year program (60 credit hours) that will prepare you for the challenges of a career in the environmental administration field. Courses examine the development and implementation of public policy responses to environmental issues. You will also gain a greater understanding of how information should be used to assess societal risk and create policy. Through courses offered in the Master of Public Administration Program,  students learn how to effectively manage organizational resources and exposes them to the political settings in which policy is often developed.

You are able to apply for the Concurrent EVSS/MPA Program within your first 18 credit hours or first year and the application final due date for this Fall is December 1st.

For the application process you will need to start a new application, but the only new item you will have to complete is a rewritten statement of goals. You will still be prompted to upload documents, but we will already have your undergraduate transcripts and your CofC transcripts on file that will be automatically added to your new application. When it comes to adding your recommenders, you can put the same name of your previous recommender, but instead of their email address, put the gradstud@cofc.edu email for the contact and your recommendation letters will be re-uploaded for your new application. If you have any questions regarding the application process, please reach out to Susan Hallatt (hallatts@cofc.edu) in the graduate office.

If you are wondering if this program may be right for you and your career goals, please set up a meeting with our office.

Best,
Lucy Davis
