Hello Scholars!

We've got a Ronin Public Seminar TODAY. Please come join us as Tom Buckholtz shares about "The Tiny and the Vast".

Our highlighted community meeting for the week is the Research Working Group meeting. Please come join if you'd like to help shape how we approach research at the Ronin Institute.

We are also meeting weekly to plan the post-event products from the Scholarship Values Summit 2021 meeting. We're currently leaning toward follow-up session at the AIMOS 2021 conference, and a published article, if anyone is interested in joining those initiatives.

We're having our annual Networking event! Anyone who identifies as an independent scholar is welcome to come. Please see how to register below.

Have a great week!

- Arika

All events are on our Ronin calendar (add the Google Calendar). If you want to add something to this Weekly Update that you think Ronin Scholars would be interested in, please reach out via weekly.update@ronininstitute.org

Ronin Public Seminar *TODAY*

The Tiny and the Vast: Predictions About Elementary Particles, Dark Matter, and the Cosmos

PresenterThomas Buckholtz
HostImmanuel Freedman
Date: Oct 18, 2021
Time: 6:00-7:00 PM ET / 22:00-23:00 UTC (in your local timeAdd to your calendar
Locationhttps://meet.google.com/ssz-tpqr-yrj

Summary of the seminar: We discuss work that might solve three 80-year physics challenges:
– Describing all elementary particles.
– Describing dark matter.
– Explaining the changing rates at which very large objects move away from each other.
For more information about this seminar, including a 2-min introductory video, check out this blog post

Fun Fact: Possibly one cannot solve any one of the three challenges without solving all three of them. It took me nine-plus years to do so. Fortunately, the underlying math is simpler than math other people use to try to tackle the challenges.

Seminars are all listed on our Ronin calendar (add the Google Calendar) and on our website. You can find videos of previous seminars on Ronin's YouTube. If you'd like to present, sign up on this form. Please direct any questions to #wg-seminars_events on Slack.
