2021 Trillium Awards

This year, the Ontario Square and Round Dance Federation approved all four EOSARDA nominees for a Trillium Award.

Trillium Long Service Award recipients from EOSARDA are:

  • Bill and Gale Butler from the Grenville Gremlins
  • Rob and Linda Harrison from Kingston’s Stonewall Dancers

Trillium Merit Award recipients from EOSARDA are:

  • Gloria Bateman from Pembroke’s Swinging Swallows
  • Barbara Englehart from Ottawa’s Meri Squares

Congratulations to all our successful nominees!

Trillium Awards are the Ontario Square and Round Dance Federation's way of recognizing Ontario dancers who have made outstanding contributions beyond the scope of regular dance activities.  Trillium Long Service Award recipients have danced for 20 years or more, served in leadership capacities at the club level, and supported recruitment activities for dancers and/or leaders.  Trillium Merit Award recipients have danced for at least 5 years and made a significant contribution to dancing in Ontario by serving in leadership capacities at the club level and as an executive or committee member at the regional, provincial, or national level.

Each year, EOSARDA and the other regional associations in Ontario can identify up to two dancers or couples for each Trillium award.  EOSARDA Member Clubs and our dancers can submit nominations in accordance with procedures set out in Chapter 12 of the EOSARDA Procedures Manual.

Trillium recipients are presented with a scroll, wall plaque, and selected jewellery.  The Ontario Federation has advised us that the awards will soon be sent to EOSARDA – at which time, we will contact the recipients and their nominators to determine how and when we can present the awards.

In the interim, why not:

  • reach out to Bill & Gale, Rob & Linda, Gloria, and Barb to offer your own congratulations,
  • Check out the Ontario Federation Website to see who has past Trillium Award recipients, and
  • start thinking about a dancer or couple you can nominate for a 2022 Trillium Award – the links above provide details of how to prepare and submit a nomination.
If you have questions about Trillium Awards or how to nominate a dancer or couple, feel free to contact EOSARDA at secretary@EOSARDA.ca
