We have stories to tell. Every great piece of music has a story, and we have a podcast that tells those stories in bite-sized servings: Masterworks in 10 Minutes or Less with musicologist and Classical Tulsa host Jason Heilman. Season 3 is already underway, with new episodes devoted to works by Franz Schubert and Felix Mendelssohn. Watch for even more to come from Chamber Music Tulsa’s 2021-22 season in the spring.

Teaching ban challenged. The ACLU and the Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights Under Law have filed a lawsuit against the state of Oklahoma over the state's so-called ban on critical race theory. The suit calls on the state to stop censoring teaching about race in classrooms.
Inhofe, vaccinations, and our troops. Oklahoma Senator James Inhofe has asked the U.S. Secretary of Defense to end the COVID vaccination requirement for the military. In his letter to Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, Inhofe said the requirement was harming "readiness and morale."
Vaccinations, natural immunity, and us. "I don't need the COVID vaccine; I already got sick and I'm immune!" NOT so fast. According to data from the state health department, immunity from the COVID vaccine is more effective than natural immunity. Currently, the reinfection rate for those who've had COVID is 1.8 times higher than the breakthrough infection rate for those who've been immunized.

Our fave librarian, Tulsa City-County Library Regional Manager Rebecca Howard, has a thought for those of us who like to keep our fiction and non-fiction in separate, neat little boxes: Get over yourselves, already, and welcome fall with a biographical novel! And because she's amazing, this month's Imprint also includes a booklist to get us started!
Clockstopping. Sure, time doesn't seem to hold the same meaning in The Age of Covid as it used to (Is it really October? Did I miss my birthday??). But time management? STILL HARD. Perhaps we need to cut ourselves some slack, says NPR's Life Kit, and take some clues from a new book about time management for mortals.
Fran Lebowitz, in the house. The author and commentator with the famously-long writer's block is coming to Tulsa! Fran Lebowitz will be the next speaker at The University of Tulsa's Presidential Lecture Series, Nov. 8, 2021 at 7:00 p.m, sponsored by the Darcy O'Brien Endowed Chair at TU.
