Portal news

Thanks to your feedback, a new release of the customer portal is on the way. Scheduled for Monday 8 November 2021, the release features improvements such as new help text and warning messages, along with validation rules that will help fix errors before submission. Other changes include:
  • More questions for supporting activities, future activities, and activities conducted by a Cooperative Research Centre or non-levy collecting Research Service Provider.

  • The ability to use special characters (such as $, %, !, ?, +) for project and activity names.

  • Changed messaging for Taxpayer alerts and guidance for certain ANZSIC Divisions or Classes.

  • The Project and activities table listed in alphanumeric order.
We've also published a new guidance for applications section on business.gov.au that explains some of the fields and features in the registration form.

Don't miss the 31 October deadline

If your income year ended on 31 December 2020, don't forget that the deadline to submit your application is Sunday 31 October 2021. If you haven’t logged into the customer portal before, step by step instructions can be found on the business.gov.au website.

Unless you plan on skipping the Halloween fun and working over the weekend, make sure your application is submitted by Friday 29 October 2021.

The R&DTI customer portal will not let you submit an application past the 31 October 2021 deadline, unless you apply for an extension of time to lodge through the portal.
