Village Youth News
Middle School Retreat: We are planning a Middle School Higher Things Retreat here at Village!!
Jesus calls us to live in the world, but not to be conformed to the world around us. This is a difficult challenge! There are so many different messages given to us about what kind of life we should live today—it can blow our minds! This retreat will focus on what the Bible says about the Christian life and how you as a junior high student live as a Christian today. At this retreat, you will get to think about how to live as a Christian in a 21st century world.
When: Nov.5-6, 2021
Where: Village
Cost: $35 per person
Registration deadline is Oct. 22.

Delighting in God's Gifts
In October, our congregation is focusing on stewardship - how we use God's gifts to us. To guide your reflection and to aid in making concrete decisions and commitments, you should have received a mailing a few weeks ago regarding your stewardship of God's gifts to you. Of course, this includes your financial stewardship, but it also includes your stewardship of the gifts of time and talent God has given. Please devote time, energy, and prayer to consider how you might steward those gifts for service in God's Kingdom and for the benefit of your neighbor.
If you did not receive the mailing: please collect a copy in the narthex or go to villagelutheranchurch.org to find a digital copy.
Please complete the forms and bring them to worship this Sunday, October 17, or deliver them to the church office.

Altar Guild Volunteers Needed
The Altar Guild needs at least four volunteers for Holy Communion setup and cleanup. One to two people can set the altar on Saturdays or early Sunday mornings, and another person or couple is needed to clean up after Sunday’s late services. The volunteer schedule rotates monthly, and training is available. Volunteers are also needed for other services (Christmas, Holy Week, Easter, etc.) throughout the church year.

Update for Call Committee
The District has reviewed our survey and we should be releasing shortly. Keep an eye out in your inboxes. Ideally if you can take the survey electronically, that would be the easiest. However, ultimately, we want as many members to take the survey as possible so paper copies will be available to those who prefer.

Stewardship Thought
Mark 10:29-30 – “Jesus said, ‘Truly, I say to you, there is no one who has left house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or lands, for my sake and for the gospel, who will not receive a hundredfold now in this time, houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and lands, with persecutions, and in the age to come eternal life.’ ” This is Jesus’ encouragement for every faithful disciple. Let it encourage you today.
