Student Vaccine Exemptions
As previously communicated, effective Monday, October 18, 2021, individuals accessing campus or in-person university activities off-campus must be fully vaccinated or have received an approved exemption from the University. Individuals who have approved exemptions are still required to participate in the Rapid Antigen Testing Program.
The university is considering exemptions to the vaccination requirement in appropriate and limited circumstances, where there is a duty to accommodate based on protected grounds under Ontario’s Human Rights Code. In accordance with the applicable law and guidance from public health officials and regulatory bodies, exemptions from the requirement for full vaccination against COVID-19 are limited and rare.
Students whose vaccine exemptions have been denied will receive notice, informing the student that effective immediately, they cannot attend any university premises or participate in in-person university activities until they resolve their non-compliance. Students will be provided with a rationale, resources, and ways for students to come into compliance, such as full vaccination, continuing their studies online or dropping their classes. Students will also be given the option to complete a form to indicate concerns about vaccine compliance or their academics, which will direct them to appropriate resources. Students who indicate they have concerns about how to continue their academics will be referred to their academic advisor.
