Hello! Hope you all had a great week. And what a week it was, as far as new releases were concerned. The hits just keep on coming this week as well, including a new novel by local phenom Lori Rader-Day, Death at Greenway. We're also very excited about The Best American Series, most notably the Science Fiction and Fantasy edition.

Exile in Bookville FINALLY has new sexy and sleek gift cards, just in time for the holidays! Come by and pick a couple up, or you can go to our website and send some out to a dozen or so of your best friends.

Although our event schedule is grinding to a halt as we get closer to the holiday season, we have some great ones coming up, including one tonight. Matt Bell, author of the incredibly awesome Appleseed, put us in touch with Lindsay Merbaum, whose very first novel, The Gold Persimmon, came out recently. Lindsay will be in conversation tonight IN-STORE with Chicago's very own Layne Fargo (They Never Learn)! Just goes to show you how close knit the book community is, and why we are honored to be a part of it. The festivities start at 7pm and will also be broadcast virtually. While you are at it, check out our upcoming event schedule and be sure to watch those you may have missed. As always, our events are free so come join us!

Thank you, everyone, for your continued support. Come in and say hi and be sure to visit our website, Instagram, Spofity, Twitter, YouTube, and any other site we’re forgetting.

—Javier and Kristin

James Kennedy is the author of the sci-fi thriller Dare To Know, which the Guardian praised as "a fascinating, compulsively readable thriller" and SFX Magazine called a "superb piece of storytelling: vivid, thought provoking and unsettling." James is also the author of the young-adult fantasy The Order of Odd-Fish and the founder of the 90-Second Newbery Film Festival, in which kid filmmakers create short movies that tell the entire stories of Newbery-winning books in about 90 seconds, which screens annually in a dozen cities nationwide. He lives in Chicago with his wife and two daughters. You can find him online at www.jameskennedy.com.

Author, editor, and ghostwriter Keir Graff has published eleven novels under three different names. His most recent works include The Three Mrs. Wrights (coauthored with Linda Joffe Hull as Linda Keir) and the middle-grade novel The Tiny Mansion. Beth Golay's Marginalia Podcast
Beth helps us out from Wichita, Kansas, where she's the host of KMUW's Marginalia podcast, interviewing hundreds of authors since 2016.

Beth recently spoke with Susan Orlean for her new book, On If you look at Susan Orlean's contributors page at newyorker.com, you'll see that the topics of her essays—more than any other subject—have been about animals. So it's appropriate that her new book, which comes our today, is titled, On Animals. KMUW's Beth Golay recently spoke with Orlean about the collection for this week's Marginalia. (And she asked her about her drunk Twitter bender.) Click here to listen!
