KC STREETCAR GETS ON BOARD WITH THE KC2026 FIFA WORLD CUP BID
(Kansas City, Missouri) - The KC Streetcar is dressed and ready to bring the 2026 FIFA World Cup to Kansas City. 

The KC2026 bid to bring the 2026 FIFA World Cup to Kansas City will host a media event at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 14 at the KC Streetcar stop at Union Station to unveil a specially wrapped streetcar in advance of FIFA’s upcoming venue visit to Kansas City.

KC2026 World Cup Bid Director Katherine Fox will be joined by Mayor Quinton Lucas, members of the KC2026 Executive Committee, as well as FIFA World Cup veteran Benny Feilhaber, to answer questions about Kansas City’s bid to host the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Thursday’s media event is in advance of the arrival of a delegation from FIFA to conduct an upcoming Venue visit. “We are thrilled to partner with the KC2026 World Cup Bid committee to build excitement for the FIFA delegation visit and the potential for the 2026 World Cup in Kansas City,” said Donna Mandelbaum, communications director for the KC Streetcar Authority. 

Followed by billions of fans across the globe, the FIFA World Cup is the largest and most prestigious single sporting event in the world. The 2026 FIFA World Cup will be jointly hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico with an expanded field of 48 teams playing in host cities across North America. Kansas City is one of 17 Candidate Host Cities in the U.S. bidding to host matches during the 2026 FIFA World Cup. 

SHOW OF SUPPORT: Social media graphics and printable posters are available to download for soccer fans throughout the region to show their support for Kansas City’s bid to bring the 2026 FIFA World Cup to the Midwest. In addition, individuals who would like to display a KC2026 sign at their home or business in downtown KC can pick up a free 18x24 poster while supplies last at the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce offices in Suite 301 on the third floor of Union Station from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. beginning Monday, Oct. 18.
