Welcome to our new Friends of Midway Atoll (FOMA) newsletter, a way for you to stay up-to-date about the work being done, and the people who are doing it, on the Refuge and within the larger Papahānaumokuākea Marine National Monument. One Tough Old Bird: Wisdom Returns!
The world’s oldest known wild bird of 70+ years soared home again from her oceanic odyssey. Wisdom arrived at her nest site, joining mate Akeakamai for the business of breeding. Read about their homecoming here.

Cutting-Edge Research About Midway's Predatory Mice!

FOMA President Wayne Sentman recalls one of the first documented mating dances of endangered Short-tailed Albatross on Midway.
Today a nesting pair of magnificent "Golden Gooneys" – once the most numerous seabird in the North Pacific – are an anticipated annual occurrence. Learn how many individuals contributed over two decades to encourage these amazing birds to ultimately
nest on Midway Atoll.
