Dear E. Rivers Community,
 
I hope this letter finds you well. 
 
I am writing to inform you that we will no longer engage in the process to identify a new principal for your school. Rather, Dr. John Waller will return to E. Rivers Elementary School effective October 26, 2021. Fortunately for E. Rivers, the school community will not go through another principal transition at an odd time in the school year along with the associated effort it takes to establish relationships and determine how best to support its amazing students under new leadership. John Waller’s return represents an opportunity for the school to pick up where it left off while continuing to implement new ideas already on the ground, forging a new path to excellence.
 
While working in the District Office as Executive Director for Teaching and Learning, Dr. Waller was instrumental in assisting the system in implementing new initiatives, providing valuable feedback to the school improvement process, and identifying strong talent for District support provided to schools. Now, he will return his talents to E. Rivers where has served faithfully for 4 years before coming to his current District role.
 
I also want to take a moment to thank Dr. Rhonda Ware for her solid leadership since this summer. She has faithfully served as interim principal since June 2021 and provided the school the continuity in leadership when needed the most. The E. Rivers leadership team is to be commended as well for ensuring the students continued to receive the best possible learning experience.
 
We look forward to the continued success of E. Rivers Elementary School as Dr. Waller returns to the principal’s seat!
