SING PRAISE TO GOD WHO REIGNS ABOVE

Fairview Family, I write this morning looking forward to Sunday when together we will worship Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The bulletin has been completed, and I'm waiting for them to be delivered. You can see a digital copy below. Within the bulletin you'll notice our Hymn of Adoration is Sing Praise to God Who Reigns Above. As we prepare to sing our praise to Him who reigns above and in our hearts, I thought I'd offer you just a little information on this hymn. For this is a good hymn for our worship service - you'll notice as you read the lyrics that "this text overflows with proclamations of God's loving care for His people" (hymnary.org). This is indeed a good reason to praise God! The textual basis for this hymn comes from Deuteronomy 32:3. Perhaps contemplate this scripture today in anticipation of Sunday: "For I will proclaim the name of the Lord; ascribe greatness to our God!”

May Grace be with you.
Kenny

Book of the Month | Living in the Grip of Relentless Grace: The Gospel in the Lives of Isaac and Jacob by Iain Duguid
Each month I'll use this space to suggest a book to you. October's book is one that is very appropriate for our sermon series on the life of Jacob. Ever wonder what pastors read to help them understand the texts they are preaching? This book is a good example of that. It's a commentary that doesn't really read like a commentary. Perhaps Sinclair Ferguson's words are helpful to describe this resource: "Like manna in the desert."
