Local History Awardees Selected by State Historical Society
BISMARCK, N.D. – The State Historical Society of North Dakota recently announced Julie Burgum and Bruce Anderson as recipients of the local history award in the category Excellence in Local History.
The Excellence in Local History award recognizes individuals, groups, or organizations who have dedicated their time, talent, and efforts to local and regional history that can serve as role models of excellence. The award honors those associated specifically with local, county, and regional historical organizations within North Dakota.
Burgum has led the Casselton Heritage Center since 2002. Under her leadership, the Center has completed many significant and cultural restoration projects. Her work has ensured the organization’s long-term solvency and helped preserved Casselton’s history for future generations.
Anderson, who passed away in 2020, had been collecting pictures and researching Minot area history for twenty years. He shared his passion and work with the public through videocassettes, DVDs and six books, comprising over 3,000 pages of images and text.
