Boost your immunity this winter

Flu and COVID-19 can both be life-threatening and spread more easily in winter when we are all crowded together inside.

So
most adults and children are eligible for a flu vaccineCOVID-19 booster, or both.

It’s the most effective way to boost our natural immunity and protect ourselves from these viruses.

So, book your vaccine appointments now and BOOST your immunity this winter. Visit
nhs.uk/wintervaccinations

Get your free flu vaccination

This year, it’s more important than ever for eligible people to have their free flu vaccination to protect themselves and others.

More people are likely to get flu this winter as there were less cases of flu last year due to lockdown and social distancing, so fewer people will have built up immunity.

Many adults and most children can have a flu vaccination - visit nhs.uk to check if you are eligible.

This year the school age flu vaccine programme has been extended from primary school to year 11 in secondary school, and children will be offered a nasal flu spray at their school.

Research suggests if you get flu and COVID-19 at the same time, you’re more likely to be seriously ill. It’s also important to remember that the COVID-19 vaccine doesn’t protect against flu and the flu vaccine doesn’t protect against COVID-19. Eligible people need to have both vaccinations.

People with a learning disability can receive a free flu vaccine and this easy read leaflet provides information on getting a vaccination.

Visit the Stay Well in Winter web page for more information on staying healthy and getting the right help you need, when you need.

Affordable Community Buildings …. We want to hear your views!

We are a local charitable foundation working in collaboration with local partners to tackle the causes and symptoms of poverty in Elmbridge.
As we emerge from the pandemic, we are interested to hear from not-for-profit organisations that need more affordable operational premises. Walton Charity’s role is to enable and facilitate other charities to deliver services that meet the needs of the local community. One of the ways we do this is to provide affordable offices, housing, land, and operational buildings.
We want to hear from you and your thoughts on the following:
  • What sort of premises does your organisation need to help deliver your services?
  • What kind of facilities and amenities would you need to operate your services?
  • What times and/or days of the week would you want to have use of an Elmbridge community building?
We are keen to hear from you as we have some exciting opportunities that we believe may deliver real benefits for our local community.
If you wanted to have an informal discussion, please email Jackie Lodge at jlodge@waltoncharity.orguk
