The University of Kentucky’s Center for Appalachian Research in Environmental Sciences (UK-CARES) is excited to offer our annual COMPASS Science Communication Workshop from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm EST on November 8, OR November 9, 2021. This free, highly interactive, virtual 3-hour workshop will help you share what you do, what you know - and most importantly, why it matters - in clear, lively terms. Grounded in the latest research on communication, this training will teach you how to build a meaningful connection with your audience and explore what makes people sit up and pay attention.
The interactive virtual workshop will introduce tools and strategies to help you distill your knowledge and communicate with diverse audiences. You will learn to use the Message Box, COMPASS’ fundamental tool for breaking down complex topics into digestible messages.
This workshop will involve hands-on practice, feedback, interactive exercises, and lots of breaks, so please join using a webcam and be prepared to actively participate. See the attached flier about the workshop.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
Investigators, Research Staff, Trainees, Students, Citizen Scientists and Community Members should click below to register for either session.
