ARC Joins 2021 SOAR Summit in KY

This week in Corbin, KY, ARC sponsored and participated in Shaping Our Appalachian Region's (SOAR) annual summit. SOAR brought hundreds of Appalachians together to discuss workforce development, downtown revitalization, digital entrepreneurship, and more.

"We are proud to partner with SOAR for this exchange of ideas about how we can shape our Appalachian region into a stronger, more successful area," said ARC Federal Co-Chair Gayle Manchin, who gave remarks alongside Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear and Congressman Hal Rogers.

"We are living through a historic moment. I think we sit at the precipice of an era where we can make prosperity reach every single part of Kentucky, including in Eastern Kentucky, which has been left out or left behind far too many times," said Governor Beshear.

Our Executive Director Brandon McBride also joined a panel on grant funding and shared tips for communities looking to increase their application capacity.

Appalachia Envisioned:
Building Appalachian Businesses

One of the five refreshed investment priorities in ARC's new strategic plan is Building Appalachian Businesses.

Whether it's helping businesses relocate to an Appalachian community, or providing coaching and other resources to a local startup, ARC investments aim to help communities create more economic opportunities.

Last week, Appalachian investors, entrepreneurship experts, and business owners discussed this at ARC's Annual Conference, Appalachia Envisioned.

Watch this panel discussion featuring Appalachian Investors Alliance, Gilson SnowVoinovich School of Leadership and Public Affairs, and Southeast Ohio Habitat for Humanity to learn more about capital access and its role in building Appalachian businesses.
