Navigating Our Classroom and Student Spaces

The university is now introducing the Navigating Our Classrooms and Student Spaces guide, focused on faculty and student information for classrooms, residence halls, libraries, and other campus spaces. This quick reference guide offers a high-level view of information pertaining to spaces, transportation, face coverings, vaccination, and testing, among other things. Maintaining a robust defense against COVID-19 and a safe campus environment requires that our community familiarize itself with these important protocols.

Parent and Family Programs Info
November Parent and Family Engagement Meeting

You are invited to attend the November Parent and Family Engagement meeting on Monday, November 8th at 7pm (EST). The featured speaker will be Career Exploration and Success. This department offers a lot of valuable resources including resume review, interview prep and internship and career search advice.  Come learn more about the various ways your student can utilize this department.

The meeting will take place on Zoom.  Please RSVP for the meeting here by Friday, November 5th at noon. You will receive a unique link to attend the meeting after the RSVP date.

Rutgers University – New Brunswick Family Town Hall Recap

Did you miss the Family Town Hall focused on updated campus protocols for COVID-19? We had presenters from Health Services, Academics, Dean of Students, and Residence who provided helpful information about testing protocols, quarantine housing, class attendance for sick students and more.

-October 1: FAFSA for 2022-2023 academic year is available
-October 4: Registration for Winter Session 2022 begins
-October 25: Last day to drop a class with a "W"
-November 8: Spring 2022 schedule of classes will be available
Reminder: Academic Integrity Module For All Students

Academic integrity is essential to success at Rutgers. All students must abide by the Honor Pledge, which reads “On my honor, I have neither received nor given any unauthorized assistance on this examination (assignment).” All students are expected to complete the Canvas course “Academic Integrity” to fully understand the policy and some of the factors which can result in violations. Safety Matters

Safety Matters, the Annual Security & Fire Safety Report for Rutgers University, is available online for your review.  This comprehensive report provides an overview of our Public Safety services and includes statistical crime- and fire-related information as required under the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act 20 U.S.C. §1092(f), or the Clery Act as it is commonly known. 
 
Safety Matters includes:
  • Three years of on- and off-campus crime statistics
  • Fire log and other related fire safety information
  • Procedures for the reporting of criminal activities and emergencies on campus
  • Policies regarding security of and access to campus facilities
  • Information on law enforcement on campus
  • Emergency response and notification procedures
  • Descriptions of campus security, crime prevention, and alcohol/drug educational programs
  • Policies regarding the possession, use, and sale of alcoholic beverages and illegal drugs
  • Information on campus sexual assault prevention programs and procedures to follow in the event of a sexual assault
  • Procedures on missing student notification
  • Where information concerning registered sex offenders may be obtained

Student Commuter Lounges

Rutgers Commuter Student Association provides two commuter lounges - one in the Busch Student Center and one in Douglass Student Center - to provide commuter students with a place to unwind, hang out with friends, get some work done, etc. as well as several amenities like a refrigerator and microwave.

New Study Space Finder

A new study space finder was recently launched to assist students in finding appropriate study spaces, particularly those students who are looking for places to attend their online synchronous courses for Fall 2021.  Students can search for study spaces here: https://scheduling.rutgers.edu/study-spaces.

Rutgers Student Food Pantry

 

The Rutgers Student Food Pantry is now located in the College Ave Student Center, Room 115 (lower level of CASC). The pantry is operating once again as “client choice” – meaning students can come in and shop for what they need. We will be adding perishable items soon!
 
We are still asking students to schedule appointment to come in for services for inventory purposes (we do accept walk-ins).

Esports Center is Open!


Rutgers Esports Center is now open for the Rutgers University-New Brunswick community! For only $3 per hour (bundle packages available!), students can compete against their peers in one of 30 different games.

Located in the Busch Student Center, the Esports Center has 60 gaming computers in a 2,700 square facility. Whether you’re here to de-stress in between classes or play an intense game with friends, the center is open to you daily from 12pm to 12am. Make sure to stop by! Introducing the One Stop Student Services Center


The One Stop Student Services Center (One Stop) at Rutgers University–New Brunswick represents an integrated and coordinated cross-functional service in the areas of financial aid, student accounts, and registration. One Stop acts as a “single point of service” across these areas to promote a progressive, simplified, and consistent student experience and a culture that supports student satisfaction and success.

Students can submit questions using the contact form or by visiting the One Stop at Dr. Samuel Dewitt Proctor Hall located at 65 Davidson Road on Busch Campus. No appointments are necessary for student walk-ins. The center is open Monday – Thursday, 8:30AM - 4:30PM and Friday 11:00AM - 4:30PM.

Official Student Newsletter – One Stop Weekly
 
Please remind all students to check out important announcements and information in the “One Stop Weekly”, the official student newsletter that is distributed every Tuesday via RAMS (Rutgers Automated Mail Service). This weekly newsletter provides all students with timely information related to academics, health, safety, and finances.

Note: The One Stop Weekly was formerly the New Brunswick Official Student Listserv (NBOSL). Students should make sure to check their spam filters and junk mail if they don’t receive each Tuesday.

Counseling, Alcohol and Other Drug Assistance Program & Psychiatric Services (CAPS) is offering both in-person and remote counseling options. Services include:

  • Immediate support for students in crisis 
  • Alcohol and other drug assistance programs 
  • Psychiatric care/medication management  
  • Community Referrals

Zimmerli Museum Events

Two New Series of Events Inspired by Angela Davis – Seize the Time Exhibition
To celebrate American Archives Month this October, the Zimmerli is hosting Three Archival Events, a series of virtual discussions. Register for one, two, or all three: Session 1, Issues in Black Archival Work (10/21, 7 pm); Session 2 Artists and Archives (10/22, Noon); Session 3, Archiving the Invisible: Black Sonic Archives (10/28, 7 pm). The series is organized by Gerry Beegan, co-curator of the exhibition and professor in Art & Design at Mason Gross School of the Arts.
 
The Zimmerli and
Paul Robeson Galleries at Rutgers-Newark are pleased to partner to host a reading group exploring prison abolition. This series provides space for meaningful exchanges around the themes and questions in Davis's influential book Are Prisons Obsolete? The series is facilitated by educator, scholar, and Rutgers alum, Michael Anderson. He also is a facilitator with Noname Book Club, which is dedicated to uplifting POC voices. The group meets on Zoom: October 29, November 19, December 10, and January 14. Free and open to the public, 18 and older. Registration is required.
