The Path Forward Brings New Shade

Thank you! It has been less than a month since we re-launched The Path Forward and you have already donated over $30,000. There’s a way to go towards our $150,000 goal but we are so grateful for this initial outpouring of support.

Past donations to The Path Forward are currently helping to plant new trees throughout the Arboretum. An old Greek Proverb says, “A society grows great when old men plant trees in whose shade they shall never sit.” You’re helping us create a brighter (and shadier!) future when you contribute to The Path Forward.

If you have not yet donated, please consider contributing to The Path Forward.

ecoEXPLORE Celebrates 35,000 Kid-powered Science Observations

This month, ecoEXPLORE at The North Carolina Arboretum celebrated 35,000 observations added to iNaturalist! EcoExplore is a statewide citizen science initiative that connects children ages 5-13 to the nature around them in their own neighborhoods.

Children earn points for every nature photo they send, and observations can then be accessed by researchers to monitor populations and changes to our environment via the iNaturalist online platform. The program is free of charge and open to all North Carolinans thanks to support from the North Carolina GlaxoSmithKline Foundation and the Duke Energy Foundation.
