Good afternoon EDS Community,
The Head of School Search Committee wanted to provide you with two updates regarding our Finalists:
1.) One of our three finalists has informed us that they have received another head of school offer that they will accept. The meetings scheduled for Monday, October 18 and Tuesday, October 19 will not take place.
2.) Please find below a brief bio regarding the first of our finalists, Tony Shaffer, who will be on campus tomorrow and Friday, October 14 and 15.
Anthony (Tony) Shaffer currently serves as Middle School Principal at St. Martin’s Episcopal School in Atlanta, GA, a position he has held since 2016. Tony has also served as Middle Division Director at Westminster School in Oklahoma City, OK, and Director of Technology at Augusta Preparatory Day School. Tony began his education career as a Spanish teacher and Modern Language Chair at Pilgrim School in Los Angeles, CA.
A Fulbright Scholar early in his career, Tony earned his Bachelor of Arts degree, summa cum laude, in Spanish and Latin American Studies at California State University, Chico. He completed his Master’s in Education at Augusta State and did doctoral coursework at Vanderbilt. Tony completed the Peabody Summer Fellowship in Independent School Leadership at Vanderbilt.
A triathlete and runner, Tony is an avid reader and theater fan. He and his wife, Dora, have one son, Antonio, age 15.

Friday, October 15th from 7:30 to 8:30 AM (Parish Hall)
