When the 7.2 earthquake struck SW Haiti, it resulted in at least 2,200 deaths and more than 12,000 injuries. 500,000 people have been affected and 50,000 homes destroyed, along with schools, churches, and health clinics.
Renaud Thomas, who oversees Rayjon-supported programs in St. Marc, felt strongly that he needed to help his fellow Haitian brothers and sisters in the Les Cayes region. Renaud requested support to assemble a multi-disciplinary team of professionals to travel to Les Cayes to provide assistance.
Renaud's team supported many rural villagers affected by the earthquake. Thanks to generous donations in Canada, Rayjon has been able to send $5,000 in additional support for the construction of housing for displaced rural families and urgent health care services.
Lindsey Travis shares her volunteer experience with Rayjon and how it connects with her work with Sarnia Lambton Alliance against Hate(SLAH). In this interview, she talks about the importance of fighting hate-motivated acts, and how SLAH addresses this issue. Finally, she reveals the means of supporting SLAH and its volunteer opportunities.
Rayjon is excited to announce we have partnered with Will Power, a national movement to educate Canadians on the power they have to make a difference through their Wills.
