In early August, the first part of the IPCC’s (Intergovernmental Policy on Climate Change) Sixth Assessment Report (AR6) was released with over 200 scientists from around the world summarising current climate research, the effects of rising global temperatures and implications for our future.

In this special LIRRF webinar, Professor Lesley Hughes will explain what the IPCC is, what its findings are saying about our climate, implications for Australia and what we must be doing … now.

Lesley is a Distinguished Professor of Biology and Pro Vice-Chancellor (Research Integrity & Development) at Macquarie University. Her research has mainly focused on the impacts of climate change on species and ecosystems. She is a former federal Climate Commissioner and Lead Author in the IPCC’s 4th and 5th Assessment Report.

Professor Kristofer Helgen, Chief Scientist and Director of the Australian Museum Research Institute will moderate and Lizard Island Research Station (LIRS) co-directors Dr Anne Hoggett AM and Dr Lyle Vail AM will provide an update from LIRS. A Q&A session will follow. We do hope you can join us.

Please pass on this invitation to anyone you think has an interest in learning more about this important report and our discussion.
