The Latest:

Thank you to all the volunteers who set up for SAT, PSAT, and SBAC testing Tuesday evening. The staff was so grateful for the helping hands.

Thank you to all the families who signed up and dropped off water and healthy snacks Monday and Tuesday for distribution on test day. Students were surprised and felt supported.

It was a massive and unique undertaking to administer three highly structured tests on one day to the entire student body. The PTSA and Lincoln administration sincerely appreciate the tremendous support provided by Lincoln families to our students and staff.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR OVERWHELMING SUPPORT OF LIFT UP LINCOLN!

We are delighted to announce that thanks to your generous contributions and known employer matching, we not only reached our $80,000 goal but have just hit $100,000!

Your dedication to our students isn’t surprising, but as we return to school in such uncertain times, the PTSA is relieved and inspired by your enthusiastic response. Since the LHS re-opening, every single program at our school is a nascent program, forming and emerging as more students enroll and our school grows.

The pandemic has prohibited many parents from having the opportunity to meet in person and spend time in our school. With that in mind, the PTSA board realizes you might be wondering about the role of the Lincoln PTSA, how and why we fundraise, and how it all works at the high school level and specifically at Lincoln. If you have questions, here is some information that can help.
Help us start new senior year traditions at Lincoln. Starting today, the Class of 2022 committee is launching its Senior Experience Fund campaign. The goal is to raise $10,000 by October 31st, and everyone in the Lincoln community is invited to contribute. Your tax-deductible donation will go toward:

  • Senior SPREE—reduce the ticket cost for ALL seniors
  • Scholarships for PROM and SPREE for those in need
  • Senior Breakfast
  • Small gift for every senior
  • If we exceed our fundraising goal, we may be able to include:
    • a gift to the Class of 2022 ASB account, which is underfunded because of Covid-19.
    • snacks/prizes for SPREE

Give today by texting LYNX2022 to 41444 or by sending a check, payable to Lincoln High School PTSA with Class of 2022 in the memo line, to: PTSA, 4400 Interlake Ave. N., Seattle, WA 98103

For more information, visit the Senior Experience Class of 2022 website. You can also donate through the Mobile Cause fundraising page.

College Corner

The countdown for EARLY ACTION is ON! Many schools have an early action application, which is a non-binding application that shows your sincere interest in a school without obligating you to choose that school. Unlike early decision, which is (somewhat) binding and only allows you to apply to one school, early action is a great way to show your interest and buffer your chances at a "reach" school.

The dates for early action vary, but most are due NOVEMBER 1st and sometimes as late as November 15th, so be sure to check your schools' admissions information.

Early action is a great option for those who:
  • want to have the college application process behind them
  • have a pretty good idea of schools they want to attend and have narrowed the list
  • are great students but might have had some transitional difficulties in high school or whose test scores are not super competitive

That said, your focus in early action applications should be on awesome essays that show who you are and why you would be an excellent addition to their campus community.

FAFSA
Another important part of early action and early decision is to FILL OUT YOUR FAFSA form. For this early process, the FAFSA is also due at the time of application. Financial planning and making decisions about the realities of paying for college are going to hit home hard and fast. Having this done early will help you make a decision since many acceptances are also accompanied by financial aid letters and packages, which are informed by the FAFSA for most schools. Also, all public colleges and universities require the FAFSA for ALL students and use them to award automatic merit scholarships.

This can be a financial game-changer, so JUST DO IT.  Good luck, Lynx '22!!!
