New Requirements from the Government of BC for Employers Hiring Young People (ages 25 and under)
Many GymBC clubs employ individuals defined by the Government of BC as ‘Young People’ (ages 25 and under). The government released new standards (work hour limitations, etc.) at this link on October 15, 2021.
Please review if you employ ‘Young People’ in your club.

Interclub Program Review
An email and survey was sent to all main club contacts last week, outlining the details of a virtual Interclub Program Roundtable that is scheduled for Friday, October 29 from 9:30 a.m. - 12.00p.m.
We need member feedback to help GymBC and the GFA committee determine how best to move forward in this program area - please consider sending a club representative to participate in the roundtable.

Membership Category Change Reminder
Club reminder: WAG and MAG competitive athlete category change requests (for all competitive categories, except Xcel) should be submitted to membership@gymbc.org, rather than clubs submitting subsequent registrations for different category directly in Uplifter.
It’s faster and easier for us to modify individual athlete category in Uplifter than it is to delete an incorrect competitive category after a club registers an individual in another competitive category.
NOTE: Category changes must be made by March 1, 2022 OR for gymnasts who wish to qualify for Team BC events (Canadian Championships, Westerns, Canada Winter Games) by the first Team BC trial event, whichever comes first*
*MAG has an exception: GymBC registered Junior (14-15) athletes can attend Westerns Trials as Provincial 5.
Please review the WAG and MAG operations manuals for more details regarding athlete mobility and category changes.

Westerns Trials for WAG are confirmed to be taking place at Twisters in March 2022.

2021 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships
A huge congratulations to both Andrée Montreuil and Gord Bennett, who were named to the judging panel for the World Championships - we are so proud that both Canadian WAG Judges at the event are from BC!
We are also cheering on Zachary Clay and coach Richard Ikeda! Zach will be competing in qualifications on Tuesday night at 11:10 p.m. PST.
