Living for Myself

She was living like many people we meet every day. She went to work. She spent hours doing her tasks, feeling grumpy and unhappy. She came home tired. She prepared food for her family, but most of the time they didn’t eat it because they were busy outside the home. She watched TV for hours. She went to bed. She repeated the process the next day.

On Sunday, she went to the traditional church, not to worship the Lord but to meet some of her friends. She spent hours with them “having fun.” She went out with strangers of her culture and faith.  She was always looking for a good time to fill the big hole inside her heart.

This was Rafa’s* life before she joined our house church group. She recently described her former life to our group, “My work wasn’t interesting. My husband was busy the whole day in his business. My children had grown up, and they didn’t need me anymore. My life was empty and meaningless.”

She continued, “When I joined you as a part of the body of Christ, I discovered real joy worshiping the Lord. I hadn’t experienced that before. I receive wonderful support and wisdom from the Book of Life and through you. I don’t live anymore for myself! I live for Christ who gives me meaning, joy, and comfort in life. I will spend the rest of my life serving others and being a witness for Jesus – the only one who saved my life.”

Children's Resources
Five short videos and reproducible handouts perfect for
VBS or Children's Ministries

Meet Nisaf, a winsome twelve-year-old girl in Kurdistan (northern Iraq). She lives with her family in a refugee camp, along with 8,000 other children and their families, after they fled from ISIS terrorists. Through five short videos Nisaf shows us where she lives and other special places in the camp, including the Noor Center. Established by Impact Middle East, the Noor Center creates ways for children to laugh, play, and feel safe again after all the trauma they have experienced in their lives. Reproducible handouts provide activities and additional information for each of the videos. Project options provide ways for children’s groups to help children like Nisaf.
