FROM THE PRESIDENT
Welcome to BPW 2021-2022
"Never Stop Dreaming"
Greetings Sisters. I hope you all are staying healthy and enjoying the cooler weather. We have a lot going on this month and I'm so proud of all the work the committees are doing.
First we have our Proclamations for both BPW Week and Equal Pay Day on the 12th at 6pm at the Kaskaskia Crisp Center. Hopefully we will have a lot of us there to represent our group. For those of you staying home and staying safe, I understand.
Also during BPW Week we are having the Boss of the Year and Woman of the Year Event on the 20th at Crooked Creek Winery Downtown at 5:30pm. I had so much fun at last year's event that I'm really looking forward to it again this year. And we get to award two more incredible women from our community. Just like last year's event Mary Davis is putting together Member Spotlights. If you were there last year, you will remember the spotlights cycling on the big screen. Also, look for them on our Facebook page. This is such a nice way to highlight our members and promote our organization so please click on the heart emoji that you love the post and share it as well. If you have not given your picture and info to Mary yet, please do so immediately. Text it to her at 618-292-1283 or her email mary@maczfuneralhomes.com.
Next we have our Equal Pay Day Rally & March For Equality on the 23rd at the American Legion at 1pm. We are having an in-person rally but you can also watch it live on our BPW Facebook page. We will have a table set up with information on becoming a member and selling t-shirts for our fundraiser at the event. I will say a few words and the Mayor will be presenting us with the Proclamation even though he read it at the council meeting. We will have the Essay Winners reading their essays and hopefully IFBWC President Amanda Burk will say a few words as well. Then we will march to City Hall. Hopefully the weather will cooperate this year.
This year for the Halloween Parade on the 30th, we are going to have last year's BOY, WOY, as well as this year's winners. Past President Tammy Resch will be riding with me, and Last year's OWWY Winner Traci Macz will also be riding in the parade. If we can locate the banner we will need a couple ladies to carry it. Please let me know if you know where it is. I'm hoping to get some walkers in the parade to hand out candy, so if you are able and willing contact me please.
It was nice being back at the Elks last month. And I'm really glad that they are able to feed us this time. It almost feels a little like normal. The meals from now on are $15 including tip with dessert, tea, coffee, or water. At this time we will be having one entrée until they can get more staff. You will also have to RSVP the week prior to the meeting. They will only be making meals according to reservations. You will be receiving an email with the menu and you can RSVP at that time. As per CDC guidelines, we will have to wearing masks unless we are eating.
Lastly, don't forget to order your t-shirt/s for our fundraiser. Check out the info flyer on our Facebook Page. These shirts are awesome and a great way to raise money during a pandemic. You can order yours by contacting Tammy Resch at tammyresch521@gmail.com. Great job Tammy! I'm really excited about everything we are doing, and so looking forward to seeing you all Wednesday. Also, heads up there will be someone from the Sentinel at the meeting. So get those Halloween hats and masks on (we have to wear masks anyway right) and show our community what a fun club we are!
Until we meet again,
Carrie Perkins-Schnicker, President
