Recreational Flying Under L3 in Auckland

Just a quick reminder to our members that while recreational flying is now possible in the Auckland Region, the border between L2 and L3 areas in place is both a land and air border.

Please remain well within L2 airspace if you are planning a flight that will take you close to Tāmaki Makarau.
Tony's Weekend Weather

Sunday looks set to deliver the best weather this weekend, with a ridge of high pressure covering most of the country. However, there will be a few showers at first along the east coast from Cook Strait to East Cape, and some rain along the Fiordland coast. Saturday starts out a bit messier, with a front around Taranaki - Manawatū  first thing moving north to clear Northland early afternoon, and showers about the South Island West Coast also clearing during the day; eastern areas should be mostly OK though.

Saturday should be a reasonable day in Kāpiti - there’s a risk of the odd shower first thing and again late in the day, but we should see some afternoon sunshine. The wind will be northwesterly 10-15kts most of the day, but expect a southerly change late afternoon or evening. Sunday should be sunny, with southwesterlies 10-15kts.
Safety Message

There are patches of deteriorating asphalt in the Northern Apron close to the tie-downs. These are slated to be repaired in the coming days.

This is a good reminder to take a good look around your aircraft before starting up to ensure there is no danger of Foreign Object Damage (FOD).

We prolong the service life of our surfaces by avoiding spilling hydrocarbons (oil and fuel). Using just enough power when manoeuvering and avoiding excessively tight turns on the apron also helps reduce the wear and tear and creates a safer operating environment.

How are we doing?

As part of our future plans for the clubs website and various marketing platforms we are looking for you, our valued club members, to write a review or leave a thumbs up. We need your help to spread the word about the clubs facilities and culture in order to help promote our services. It would be greatly appreciated if you could spare a few minutes of your time and head over to Facebook and/or Google and leave a review.
