Associate Chair Sean Andrews Helps Launch New Cultural Studies BA Program

Columbia’s Cultural Studies BA consists of a set of core classes that are taught by faculty who have a disciplinary background and theoretical commitment to cultural studies, as well as courses from other schools at the College, making it possible for students to combine their critical interests and creative work.

The art side of history: Block Museum looks to the past in one of fall’s key exhibits | CHICAGO SUN-TIMES

Through Feb. 20, 2022: “American Epidemic: Guns in the United States,” Museum of Contemporary Photography, Columbia College Chicago, 600 S. Michigan; mocp.org. The nine featured artists, including Carolyn Drake, Andres Gonzalez and Kambui Olujimi, explore a range of cultural, economic and racial issues surrounding the surging number of guns in the United States.

Jonathan Michael Castillo: Unaccompanied 

Unaccompanied, features new work by Jonathan Michael Castillo created in Chicago and funded by the Diane Dammeyer Fellowship in Photographic Arts and Social Issues. This work was made across several youth shelters run by leading global human rights organization Heartland Alliance, that care for unaccompanied children after they have arrived in the United States without their parents. This photographic exhibition is the culmination of two years of involvement with Heartland programs that care for this uniquely vulnerable population. 

Please note: For entry into DEPS spaces, masks as well as proof of vaccination or proof of a negative Covid test within the last 72 hours are required.
