Tools for Understanding Active Transportation Potential
California's Orange County Transportation Authority recently developed a long-range, comprehensive multimodal approach to address South Orange County’s congestion and mobility needs over the next 20 years. As part of the project, Alta’s civic analytics team developed a methodology to help estimate where improvements can be made to reduce collisions, potentially increase active transportation trips, and address congestion in the area. The best part? This methodology can be replicated in communities across North America and beyond.

Defining the Value of What a Visionary Trail Connects and Protects

When complete, the Great Springs Trail will be a 100-mile trail network from Austin to San Antonio, TX. Working with the National Park Service, see how Alta's civic analytics team used a multifaceted, analytics driven approach to produce the trail's Economic Benefits Report. The report serves as a resource to quantify the financial benefit of both the trail and 50,000 conserved acres along the corridor, ultimately helping define the value of what a visionary trail connects and protects.

Whole Network Prioritization
Master plans establish the vision for a community’s transportation system. Yet, with limited resources, achieving this vision often requires time and creativity. Using the prioritization framework helps us understand the projects most likely to have the greatest impact and identify where to start. Prioritization that considers underlying needs across the full transportation network can lead to resilient frameworks that generate greater positive impacts for people using the transportation system. See how Alta worked with the City of Tucson, and how Whole Network Prioritization could help your community.
